Retronomicon — a retro game catalog and collection tracker, published by BomCo
Last updated: [INSERT DATE]
The short version: Retronomicon stores everything you enter — ratings, tags, lists, notes, and play status — directly on your device. We don't collect it, we don't see it, and there's no account or login involved. The only outside service Retronomicon talks to is IGDB, to load box art images.

Who this policy covers

This policy describes the data practices of Retronomicon (the "App"), developed and published by BomCo ("we," "us," "our"). It applies to the Android version of the App distributed through Google Play.

Data we collect

We don't collect any data from you. Everything Retronomicon stores is kept locally on your own device:

None of this information is transmitted to us, to any server we operate, or to any third party. It never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export or share it yourself (see "Exporting your data" below). We have no way to see, access, or recover this information — if you uninstall the App or clear its storage, it's gone.

Third-party service: IGDB

Retronomicon displays game information — including cover art — sourced from IGDB, a video game database operated by Twitch Interactive, Inc. When you browse or view a game with cover art in the App, your device loads that image directly from IGDB's servers. As with loading any image from the web, this means IGDB (and by extension Twitch) may receive standard request information such as your device's IP address and the time of the request, in the same way any website or CDN would when serving an image. We do not control what IGDB or Twitch does with this information beyond serving the image — you can read Twitch's Privacy Notice for details on their own practices.

Retronomicon does not send IGDB any information about you personally — no ratings, notes, lists, or identifying information are ever transmitted to IGDB. The only thing your device requests from IGDB is publicly available game cover art.

Exporting your data

Retronomicon lets you export your ratings, tags, lists, notes, and search history as a JSON or CSV file, entirely at your own initiative — this never happens automatically or in the background. When you choose to export, the App uses your device's standard share function to let you save the file or send it wherever you choose (your own files, email, cloud storage, etc.). We do not receive a copy of this export, and it is not sent to us or to any third party by the App itself.

What we don't do

Children's privacy

Retronomicon is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the App does not collect any personal data from any user regardless of age, this is largely a moot point in practice — but we state it explicitly for clarity.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if the App's features change in a way that affects the practices described here. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. We encourage you to review this page occasionally if you have concerns about how the App handles data.
